Silent as meek lamb
Lovely in form, beautiful
Young, truly vibrant

The “one who supplants”
He who “perseveres with God”
Falls in love with her

Their union bears fruit
Two children of good stature
Who would be great men

Her first child is sold
Her second causing her death
Is “son of the south”

Allusions to her
Speaks of tenderness and love
Sacrifice and pain

“She cries ceaselessly
Foes held her children captive
She mourns, weeps deeply”

“Seeks for God’s mercy
Pleads for her people’s freedom
Wins the Lord’s mercy”
